Apple Butter
Apple Butter is an old school thing that we gave a completely new life to. This is the first recipe I created after our elderly neighbor Frank took me under his wing to teach me canning. We roast organic apples with bourbon, real maple syrup, and warm spices. This recipe screams fall and disappears within hours of being opened in our family. Over toast, inside of a fontina grilled cheese, added into a crepe with salty brie and bacon bits- or spooned into your mouth right out of the jar.

Some folks may not have heard of fruit butters and that’s completely understandable. A fruit butter uses the whole fruit, skin and all and is packed full of all the fruits flavor. yes, that means you could find a seed or bit of skin but we try our best. Organic apples, rye bourbon, maple syrup are the stars of this unique version. We add warm spices to enhance the fall flavors such as cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, nutmeg and a bit of salt to balance it all. This recipe brings back all the memories of learning to can with our dear friend Frank. He was more than a mentor, he was our family, and as this is roasting the smells make his laughter and teasing fill the room. He was always floored that he taught me, but I would tweak everything into something he never tasted before. We hope you feel the love in the jar like we do.
